Extracts from SPS Committee meeting summary reports

In June 2002, the representative of Cuba informed the Committee about bilateral consultations on pesticide residues in honey with the European Communities to allow Cuba to maintain or increase its access to the EC market. Cuba would provide an update of the progress resulting from these consultations at the November Committee meeting.

The representative of the European Communities confirmed that Cuba had submitted a plan for residue analysis which the European Communities was examining. The European Communities agreed to inform Cuba of the results of this examination and to engage in further bilateral consultations.

In November 2002, the representative of Cuba reported that progress had been made in bilateral consultations with the European Communities on regulation EC 96/93 setting out residue limits for imported honey. She stated that she would update the Committee on any further progress at its next meeting.

In November 2020, the Secretariat informed that in September 2020 it had contacted all Members who had raised specific trade concerns (STCs) that had not been discussed in the previous year, to request an update on their status. In furtherance of this request, information was received from Cuba on the resolution of this STC. The Secretariat indicated that the information received had been circulated in document RD/SPS/114 of 29 October 2020, and that the SPS IMS would be updated on this basis, using the date of the November 2020 SPS Committee meeting as the date of resolution of the relevant STCs.
