Extracts from SPS Committee meeting summary reports

Australia and the United States sought clarification with regard to the scope of the Indonesian regulation on fresh fruit and vegetables. In bilateral discussions with Australia, Indonesian authorities had referred to a problem arising from national practice, which precluded the circulation of draft regulations. The United States and Australia urged Indonesia to consider legislative adjustments to enable WTO Members to receive information on proposed measures sufficiently in time to be assessed. Australia appreciated Indonesian efforts to meet requests for additional information. Indonesia regretted that the draft regulation had not yet been finalized, but assured the Committee that a document containing detailed information about the proposed regulations would be provided in due course.
